A repeat of last seasons Semi Final but with a reversed fixture! With Provence unbeaten at home last season at finishing top of the pile, it looked to be a fore gone conclusion but they were pipped by Grenoble.
This term the fortunes have been reversed with Grenoble in top spot and unbeaten at home. They will be hosting Provence at the Alps Stadium in front of a sell out crowd!
This is going to be a fiery affair with all the past meetings and the spice bubbling up from the last years play off defeat.
Grenoble have put some big stats on the board this season with 987 points scored, backing up their 21 wins this season. After being defeated by Montpellier in the play off final last year, Grenoble will be going all out to make sure they don’t fall at the final hurdle again. With a number of players extending their contracts already, and Rafael Storti confirming his arrival in the summer. All signs are there that Grenoble are gearing up for life in the Top 14. However, there has been 2 very close games between the sides this season. Both sides have won their home games this year
With Sam Davies looking to control the game from the off, and having had such a great time in France. Will he lead the charge to the Play off final in Toulouse?
It is being touted that Provence are out for revenge in this clash, with the Provence Head Coach angered by the disrepect shown by the Grenoble fans running on the pitch last year. Andres Zafra has also been quoted saying they are definitely going up there for revenge, can’t wait for it. With a team littered with current and experienced international players! On paper, the Provence team looks like a dream team selection but its not gone all their way this season.
With Jimmy Gopperth still forging a path at 10 in what could be his last game in rugby, can Jimmy end on a high by leading Provence to the promised land?
