Following his two-try, player of the match display in a demolition of Gloucester, Alfie Barbeary claimed Bath's strength in depth is too much for their opponents to live with.
The Bath No.8 produced his trademark bulldozer carries to go alongside a fine display from the Blue, Black and Whites at the Rec over an off-colour Gloucester to take West Country bragging rights and a place in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
In doing so, Bath maintained their bid for a treble after the Premiership table toppers added the Premiership Cup to their trophy cabinet last month.
Speaking to Premier Sports, Barbeary said: "It is a huge result for us. It is great to get one over on Gloucester, it was a great game.
"Our squad is so competitive, the boys coming on the pitch really added energy. I don't think any team can compete with us when we have that quality off the bench.
"We are just focusing on the next game. We are back into the Premiership next week and will go from there."
Gloucester boss George Skivington admitted his decision to field a 6:2 bench split backfired and as a result his side were well beaten.
""We made more errors in the first half than we probably have all season," said Skivington. "We were beaten in all facets of the game and Bath were better than us across the board. We felt if we cut out the errors we would be in the game but ultimately, in the second half, we fell off tackles, missed kicks to touch and didn’t execute as well as we wanted to."
"Our selection failed massively, there was nothing to be excited about. I thought we would see more energy from the lads from the bench but it didn’t work.
"The errors were an issue and we will have to look at why that was. We had a good training week and I thought we were in a good spot but I was wrong about that.
"Today is massively disappointing. The Rec isn't an easy place to come but we were not as good as we should’ve been today."
