The Levi dynasty isn't going anywhere.
Rugby Australia confirmed yesterday that Maddison and Teagan Levi, the siblings who have effectively turned the World Series into their own private backyard game, have re-signed until the end of 2028.
That means the sisters will be terrorising opposition defences all the way to the Los Angeles Olympics.
The Gold Standard Securing the pair is arguably the most important signature RA has chased in the sevens game.
Maddison Levi, 23, has become a cheat code in human form. In 2024 alone, she scored a record 69 tries in a calendar season. She currently sits third on the all-time list with 221 tries. To put that in perspective, most players would be happy to score 221 points in a career; Maddison is doing it in five-pointers.
She was crowned World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year last season, and her Olympic record of 15 tries in Paris suggests she might actually be allergic to being tackled.
"I’m super excited to extend my contract with Rugby Australia," Maddison said.
"There’s still so much I want to achieve in the space of Rugby Sevens and to be able to commit until the next Olympics will help me achieve these goals."
Then there is Teagan. While Maddison is the finisher, Teagan is the architect. At just 22, she has already racked up 130 matches, scoring 34 tries and booting 131 goals.
"I am really excited and privileged to be able to re-sign with the Aussie Sevens squad," Teagan noted. "We have a talented and inspiring squad that is building something special."
The LA Mission The goal is simple: Gold in Los Angeles. The sisters already have Commonwealth Games Gold, World Cup Gold, and World Series titles in the cabinet. A second Olympic gold medal in 2028 would effectively complete the set and cement their status as the greatest sibling act in Australian sport.
Rugby Australia’s Director of High Performance, Peter Horne, didn't hide his relief at locking them in.
"Both Maddi and Teagan are important players in the women’s Sevens program and excellent ambassadors for the game," Horne said.
What's Next? The sisters fly out to Singapore today for the next round of the HSBC SVNS World Series.
