We have the top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference going head to head at Fort Quincy. New England Free Jacks made light work of Miami Sharks last week in the end, even though Miami created their own downfall for most of the match. Chicago Hounds had a bit of a wake up call last week against Old Glory DC where they were hardly in the first half but capitalised on DC mistakes. Then went through the gears in the second half making it a easy win in the end. Both teams will want to get the Conference title in their hands and move onto the Championship Final against either Utah or Houston. New England have built a fortress at Fort Quincy this season and have recently beaten Chicago here in May. Will that home form be too much for the vistors this weekend?
New England go into this game unchanged and will be glad with the performance for most of the game last week. New England will be looking at the game last week where Chicago were silenced for the first half by DC and wanting to replicate that fast start. If they can do the same and put the game to bed early doors they could then manage the result comfortably. However, if they switch off like DC did or even like New England did in the second half against the Sharks. We could have a repeat for the Chicago game against DC to cause the upset.
Chicago are also unchanged for this match up against the table toppers in the conference. However, kncok out rugby can throw form out the window. Chicago will not want that slow start they had against DC last week and then having to get themselves back into the tie with the New England home form. Chicago will look to control the scrum and lineouts but its going to be a great contest up front from both side. If the Hounds can find space in the backline though they could find some joy!
This game could either be the ultimate dead rubber while both sides don’t want to lose! Or we could have tries and points flying in all over the place. I am hoping for the latter and have a feeling Chicago will nick this late on with both teams scoring over 30 points each!
